An important event took place in the Kingdom of the Netherlands within the framework of the "Return to Western Azerbaijan" Concept put forward by President Ilham Aliyev. Organized by the "For the Social Welfare of Citizens" Public Union with the financial assistance of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in partnership with the Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress (BAK), the event was dedicated to the theme: "Promoting the right of our compatriots deported from Western Azerbaijan to return to their homelands in peace and security, as well as the socio-economic impacts of the opening of the Zangezur corridor on the international arena."
The event consisted of two parts, the first of which was a conference. Participants began by observing a minute of silence to honor the memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. This was followed by the playing of the National Anthems of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Elsevar Mammadov, Chairman of the Benelux Azerbaijanis Congress, opened the conference with an introductory speech, discussing the importance of ensuring the right of Western Azerbaijanis to return to their historical lands within the framework of international legal norms. He emphasized that the opening of the Zangezur corridor would bring economic dividends not only to Azerbaijan but to all countries in the region, serving as a vital hub on the Eurasian transport map.
Other speakers and international experts at the event noted the necessity of informing the European public about the preservation of our material and cultural heritage in Western Azerbaijan and the restoration of the fundamental rights of our compatriots.
