Nadima Rahimli is participating in the UN Third Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) as a representative of Azerbaijan’s civil society. The conference, held from August 4–8 in Avaza, Turkmenistan, opened with the inauguration of the Inter-Parliamentary and Civil Society Forums.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Sahiba Gafarova, chaired the first session of the Forum on the theme “From Vienna to Avaza: Unresolved Challenges, Lessons Learned, and the Way Forward” and briefed participants on Azerbaijan’s work in the relevant areas.

During the opening ceremony of the Civil Society Forum, Ms. Rabab Fatima, UN Assistant Secretary-General and High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States, as well as Lok Bahadur Thapa, the newly appointed President of the UN Economic and Social Council, emphasized the crucial role of civil society institutions in LLDCs. In the coming days, within the framework of the Conference, Forums on Global South cooperation, Women Leaders, and other important topics are expected to take place.
