The Public Association “For Citizens’ Social Welfare” implemented two projects related to Western Azerbaijan in 2023–2024.

This was stated by the Association’s Chair, Nadima Rahimli, in a comment to Report during a briefing on “Projects implemented within the framework of the return to Western Azerbaijan.”

She noted that in 2023 a photo exhibition was organized on the historical monuments and cultural heritage of Western Azerbaijan:

“As part of the project, a book (photo album) titled ‘Yerevan – Our History, Our Land, Our Destiny’ was prepared. An opening ceremony for the exhibition on ‘Historical Monuments and Cultural Heritage of Western Azerbaijan’ and a presentation of the photo album ‘Yerevan – Our History, Our Land, Our Destiny’ were held. The exhibition featured nearly 300 photographs and artworks covering Western Azerbaijan—ancient Yerevan’s historical monuments, culture, education, publishing, and historical figures. All of them were presented with captions in three languages—Azerbaijani, Russian, and English. In addition, traditional clothing, carpets, musical instruments, historical documents, and items from ancient periods specific to Western Azerbaijan were displayed.”

Rahimli added that almost all of the photographs included in the book come from collections of foreign artist-travelers of German, Russian, English, and Dutch origin: “It even includes paintings by an artist of Armenian descent depicting the mosque in the center of the city of Yerevan.”
